We pick a cozy spot and arrange chairs in a large circle. If there's a sizable crowd, we sit in concentric circles and work from the center outward. We choose a person to start with, and decide to move to the left or the right. The person who is "up" has three options:
1.PLAY: Play or sing a song for the group, read a poem, tell a story, play an instrumental. It's nice if you introduce yourself beforehand so that we may get to know you. If a song has a chorus that
you think folks would enjoy singing along with, you may want to teach it to the group before you begin so that we may join you. You may also invite others to play or jam along with you...or not. Your choice. All
musical styles are encouraged.
2. PICK: Choose a song you'd like to hear or have the group sing. You may also request songs of other people in the group if you are familiar with their music and want to hear something that you and perhaps the others might enjoy.
3. PASS: For the spectators, the shy, or anyone else who wishes to participate in the group but tends to blank out under pressure. Or, for anyone with their mouth full of food.
SONG CIRCLE is a traditional, relaxed way to share time, fun, art, and community. Acoustic instruments of all kinds are encouraged, but not necessary if you simply love to sing. No one dominates, but anyone
may lead the group in song or entertain when it is their turn. People may enter or leave the circle as they wish, but at all times within and without the circle, it is understood that no one is to be rude or disruptive. The circle will continue until the last hearty soul peters out, the Matrix closes, or we all file out and adjourn to the nearest gin mill to continue, to the shock and potential amusement of the local patrons.

Dented Trucks

This smokin' Texas and Chicago style Blues band out of Olympia, Washington has been tearing it up at venues across the Pacific Northwest with wicked guitar solos, a hard driving bass and awesome drum grooves.
As lead guitarist and vocalist, Diane Wessels has a sound from the soul that ranges from smooth and slow to hard and gritty.  The seeds of raw talent were planted for Diane at a young age, who was born into a musical family of accordion players, pianists, a drummer and professional opera singers.  Like many musicians, she started with piano and the school choir.  When introduced to guitar the playing took off.  Passion for playing enabled her, in a short period of time, to put on a raw energetic performance.
Ricky Wessels originally played harmonica, but took on the bass due to the bands need for a bass player.  He turned out to be a natural.  Ricky brings to the band a punchy energetic upfront sound.  Influences are Benny Turner and Tommy Shannon.
The Dented Trucks drummer Jenine Wessels, formerly the bands keyboardist, puts on a very focused and precise performance.  Her own distinct out of the box technique contributes to the bands own style.
Dented Trucks audiences have been enjoying honest electric Blues with a tight sound and slick arrangements.

Angelo M.

A Rootstime Review calls this former steelworker a “Brilliant Guitarist” with an “Excellent Voice”, and says his song, 'Lost' produces "Goose Bumps". A performing songwriter and accomplished finger-style & slide guitarist Angelo M.(short for Melasecca) is also noted for playing Dobro, mandolin and harp. Emerging on the music scene after a steel mill bankruptcy Angelo M. is casting a strong impression with his guitar virtuosity and eclectic-acoustic roots mix(Folk/Blues) which draws influences from Ry Cooder, Chet Atkins, Duane Allman and Leo Kottke. His all original Debut CD, Far From Home received airplay in the US, Europe & Japan with spins on 130+stations in 40 US state, and Angelo appeared on several radio programs including the nationally syndicated radio show, River City Folk and WXPN's Folk Show with host, Gene Shay. Two of Angelo's songs are featured in a TV Series and he won an Honorable Mention in the both the prestigious "Mountain Stage” NewSong Contest and the annual Billboard Song Contest. A PBS TV News Magazine did a feature on Angelo M.'s successful transition from steelworker to performing songwriter. And since leaving the steel mill Angelo M. has played numerous festivals & listening room venues like Philadelphia's World Cafe Live & the Legendary Godfrey Daniels; he received a standing ovation at the Johnstown Folk Fest and made his European Debut. He's also making quite an impression on the Blues scene with performances at the Atlanta Blues & Music Festival and the Kalamazoo Blues Festival where reviews called his performance “Powerful” and said he was “One of the Highlights”. He's shared bills with many talented musicians including: Roger Mcguinn, John Sebastian, Chris Smither, Dar Williams, Shemekia Copeland, Peter Mulvey and many more.
In 2008 in addition to performing at a variety of festivals and listening room venues throughout the US Angelo M. will cross the northern boarder to make his Canadian Debut. He also anticipates the release his 2nd CD along with numerous radio appearances.

Action Cat

Hungry Cloud

Some songs tell the best stories, and some stories make the best songs.
For Isaac Fitts, it started with an idea about a monkey with a dead-end job and an extraterrestrial on the run from the government. As odd as it may seem, it sparked the inspiration for forming Action Cat and their first EP Reginald and the Visitor. The five tracks are laced with sugary-pop hooks, swinging beats, and catchy melodies while the lyrics throughout tell the story of a monkey waking up from a bad dream only to end up having quite an interesting day. But don’t let the child-like premise fool you. The songs explore a much deeper, cynical theme reflective of our tumultuous world and the selfish, paranoid nature of our society.
Action Cat is made up of Isaac Fitts (lead vocals, guitar), Jesse Fitts (drums, guitar), Javier Echenique (bass), Shawn Danley (piano, organ) and Marites Velasquez (drums, piano, guitar). Their music aims to be creative, but at the same time, their songs prove that an upbeat melody and intellectual depth can go hand in hand. Action Cat isn’t out to revolutionize the music world, but if listeners can walk away finding their songs interesting and fun, or their lyrics and message thought provoking, the band will go home happy at the end of the day.

Broken Toy Brigade

Offshore Radio
a day dream of a day you lived years ago. thinking of something this girl once said to you when both of you sat up all night talking and looking at each other. walking on a beach with your brother drawing masterpieces in the sand and finding strange familiar objects wondering about the boats they fell of off. sitting back thinking about being old and how this will all end up. fighting with a person you love, and finding yourself resenting them for something that seemed very important at the time. reunions. being a child and feeling loss for the first time. learning that not everybody has good intentions. finding out life is cruel but unbelievably beautiful all in one second. train trips. mothers and fathers. The never-ending, ever growing spiral. landscapes. so many faces so many voices. falling in love.
then realizing while you are writing a bio about yourself how much you have experienced in what seems like a very short time. this is my music to me. it is everything. it is all i have to give to you.

Broken Toy Brigade is a one man band created by singer/songwriter Shawn Kelly. With an eclectic sound comparable to bands like Radiohead and Beck, Broken Toy Brigade delivers a style all their own.
